What to expect from microneedling.

Pre-Treatment Preparation

Discontinue retinoids and exfoliating acids 5-7 days before your session. Avoid excessive sun exposure for 1-2 weeks prior. Arrive with clean, product-free skin — your aesthetician will cleanse and prep the treatment area.

Numbing Application

A topical numbing cream (lidocaine-based) is applied 20-30 minutes before treatment to minimize discomfort. Most patients describe the sensation as a mild vibrating pressure rather than pain.

The Treatment

Your aesthetician uses a medical-grade automated pen device with sterile needle cartridges, adjusting depth (0.5-2.5mm) based on the treatment area and your specific concerns. The procedure takes 20-40 minutes for a full face.

Serum Application

Immediately after needling, targeted serums are applied while skin permeability is at its peak. Hyaluronic acid, growth factors, or PRP (platelet-rich plasma) can be infused for enhanced results tailored to your goals.

Post-Treatment Recovery

Expect redness similar to a sunburn for 24-72 hours. Avoid makeup, retinoids, and active ingredients for 48-72 hours. Use gentle cleanser, hyaluronic acid serum, and SPF 30+ sunscreen during the recovery window.

Important: Do not undergo microneedling if you have active acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea flare-ups, or open wounds in the treatment area. Individuals with a history of keloid scarring, bleeding disorders, or those on blood-thinning medications should consult their ALYZE practitioner before treatment. Microneedling is not recommended during pregnancy or for those with active skin infections.
